Conversations with Copywriting Legends

In the early 2000s, I had the privilege of sitting down with two of the most influential copywriters of all time. These recordings are a piece of direct response history — raw, candid, and still remarkably relevant.

I

Gary Halbert — Interview #1

This call was an interview with the late Gary Halbert, often recognized as the greatest copywriter of all time. It was so overwhelmingly popular it reached our 1,000-line capacity before the call even started. The recording is about two hours long, split into four 30-minute segments. Audio quality is limited due to the technology of the era.

II

Gary Halbert — Interview #2

A follow-up call with Gary Halbert, recorded a few weeks after the first. About two hours long, split into four 30-minute segments. As with the first recording, the call was at capacity and audio quality reflects the limitations of early 2000s conferencing technology.

III

John Carlton

A conversation with copywriter John Carlton, a mentor of mine who was himself mentored by Gary Halbert and a close friend of his. About two hours long, split into four 30-minute segments to accommodate the broadband limitations of the era.
